Like Nothing On Earth [Revelation 4]
3And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance. 4Around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and golden crowns on their heads.
...9And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever,10the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11"Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created."
Over the years, I have see a lot of amazing things on the earth. I have walked on the Great Wall of China, stood at the edge of the Grand Canyon, watched hundreds of hot air balloons fly in a clear Alaskan sky, walked the path of Jesus' last journey, prayed at the wailing wall in Jerusalem, hiked in the back woods of the Yosemite National Park, held my newborn in my arms, and walked through the Forbidden City. And yet, as awesome as those things were, none of them caused me to fall on my face and worship. I can't imagine what it will be like to be in the presence of God in the way described in Revelation. There is nothing on this earth that has even come close to preparing me for that day when I will see Him.
Father, you are worthy of our praise and worship. Cause us to be ready for the time when we will be worshiping at your throne. Make us into the people of God who are filled with awe of you now and who will be ready for your coming.
