Where Is God? [Job 35]

¹⁰"But no one says, 'Where is God my Maker,
         Who gives songs in the night,
¹¹Who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth
         And makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?'
¹²"There they cry out, but He does not answer
         Because of the pride of evil men.

Elihu continued to address Job's situation and reaction to all that has happened. Job and his friends talked about God and their thoughts about Him. Many of Job's conclusions about God came from the experience of his situation and his conviction that he was righteous. His friends spoke about God according to their preconceived ideas. Elihu, however, cut through all of the wrong thinking and took them back to the basic truth about God. He described God as his Maker who is always present among us to teach us and make us wiser. However, self focused (proud) men (like Job and friends) can't find Him or hear Him.

We praise You, God, that you are our Maker and the very present God full of wisdom for us. Cause us believe that You are so near and to humbly seek You in all of our circumstances.
