The Elements Will Melt [2 Peter 3]

17You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, 18but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

As I read 2 Peter 3, I realize again that all the stuff we touch, see, buy, dust, drive, live in etc. are going to melt in intense heat. The only things that will remain will be relationships, our relationship with God and our relationships with others. And God will create a new heavens and new earth or a new perfect environment for those relationships to continue and to grow unhindered by the brokenness found in this world. Peter wrote these words to encourage us to invest our time, money and energy in the things that will last.

We praise you God that You provide abundant grace and knowledge as we exchange our weakness for your strength. Keep us growing in You and make us ready for that awesome day when the elements will melt and You make all things new.
