The Lamb Wins [Revelation 17]
14They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers."
I like movies that portray the strength of the seemingly weaker love and good over big, bad and evil. I think of Darth Vader who was won over by Luke's love as he died. And then there is the wicked and powerful wizard, Lord Voldemort, who failed to kill Harry Potter because of his mother's love for her son. Later, Harry vanquished Voldemort through the love he had for his family and friends. Of course these are fantasies, however, the end of God's story echoes this theme of good versus evil and the triumph of love in the end. In Revelation, the big ugly wicked beast grabs all the power he can from those willing to give it and then he turns on the Lamb. This picture is disturbing to me because lambs are gentle, soft and not what you would consider a worthy opponent for a big evil beast. And yet, this Lamb will win and he will have with Him, His called, chosen and faithful followers. It is love, God's love that conquers evil in the end and provides an eternal home for those who love Jesus. Without God's love for us, there is no story and no battle and no hope for any of us.
We praise You for the love You have for us. We praise You that Your love overcomes evil in the end. Cause us to keep our eyes fixed on the victory of the Lamb who was slain and who eventually will slay the beast of evil and provide a beautiful eternal home for us.
