God Blesses Through All [Genesis 39-40]

21But the LORD was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer.

22The chief jailer committed to Joseph's charge all the prisoners who were in the jail; so that whatever was done there, he was responsible for it.

23The chief jailer did not supervise anything under Joseph's charge because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made to prosper.

Bad things happen to everyone, even to God's blessed children. However, He will bless us in the midst of those difficult things as we look to Him. Joseph was a man who had integrity and honored God by the way he chose to live his life for God. Because of that integrity, an evil woman had him punished by sending him to jail. But God was in that jail and continued to bless Joseph there, too. It didn't matter where Joseph was, God blessed him. The same is true for us. Wherever we are, as we look to God for blessings, He has plenty to give.

Genesis 40

7He asked Pharaoh's officials who were with him in confinement in his master's house, "Why are your faces so sad today?"

8Then they said to him, "We have had a dream and there is no one to interpret it " Then Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell it to me, please."

In Genesis 40 Joseph showed compassion to the two official who were confined the jail with him. And then, he pointed to God as the source of understanding and wisdom. God gave Joseph the correct interpretations of the dreams and they came true. It was second nature to Joseph to look to God for what he needed and not to his own understanding. He believed that God was the source of all and lived a compassionate life that was dependent upon God.

We praise You that You are the source of everything. Cause us to trust You as the source of all we need and to turn to You for everything. We can't, but You can!
