Great Is Our God! [Job 26]
10"He has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters
At the boundary of light and darkness.
11"The pillars of heaven tremble
And are amazed at His rebuke.
12"He quieted the sea with His power,
And by His understanding He shattered Rahab.
13"By His breath the heavens are cleared;
His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent.
14"Behold, these are the fringes of His ways;
And how faint a word we hear of Him!
But His mighty thunder, who can understand?"
In the midst of his pain and accusations, Job turned to the one thing he knew to be certain- the character of God. This is what he needed to remember and praising God brought his focus back to God and His truth. "He quieted the sea with His power," surely He can also quiet me. "By His breath the heavens are cleared; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent." He is the powerful creator who breathes and it happens and "Behold, these are the fringes of His ways; and how faint a word we hear of Him!"
Jeremiah declared something similar: "Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You." Jeremiah 32:17 When we look at God and what He has accomplished it puts in perspective what He can do for us as individuals. According to Hebrews, it is faith:
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible." Hebrews 11:1-3
We praise You God that You are the powerful Creator. You breathe or stretch out Your arm and amazing things happen. Thank You for giving us faith to believe You can work in our lives as we observe and declare Your great work in all creation.
