He Is Still There [Job 30]
16"And now my soul is poured out within me; Days of affliction have seized me. 17"At night it pierces my bones within me, And my gnawing pains take no rest. 18"By a great force my garment is distorted; It binds me about as the collar of my coat. 19"He has cast me into the mire, And I have become like dust and ashes. 20"I cry out to You for help, but You do not answer me; I stand up, and You turn Your attention against me. 21"You have become cruel to me; With the might of Your hand You persecute me. 22"You lift me up to the wind and cause me to ride; And You dissolve me in a storm. 23"For I know that You will bring me to death And to the house of meeting for all living. 24"Yet does not one in a heap of ruins stretch out his hand, Or in his disaster therefore cry out for help? Poor Job. The more he talks the worse he feels. In his great pain he feels that God does not answer him and that He is cruelly persecuting him.
"I cry out to You for help, but You do not answer me; I stand up, and You turn Your attention against me. You have become cruel to me; with the might of Your hand You persecute me."Many of the Psalms start out in this same manner. But usually, the person in distress has cried out and then heard God's answer. Job will hear soon. In the meantime, let's be reminded of the truth from the end of one of those Psalms.
Psalm 10:16-18
16The LORD is King forever and ever; Nations have perished from His land. 17O LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear 18To vindicate the orphan and the oppressed, So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.
We praise You God that You do hear our cries. You do answer and You do strengthen our hearts. Cause us to be a place to listen to Your answers today. Your are King forever and ever.
