What Does God Think? [Jeremiah 3]
19 I thought: How I long to make you [My] sons
and give you a desirable land,
the most beautiful inheritance of all the nations.
I thought: You will call Me, my Father,
and never turn away from Me. (Holman CSB)
Have you ever wondered what God thinks about? What is He longing for? It is stunning to see what He says. He longs for me. He longs to share that father-son relationship with me. He wants to hear me call Him, "my Father." Not just "Father," but "my Father." He has put that longing in my heart because it is His longing. He wants to share His inheritance with me. And He desires that I would never turn away from Him. These are precious thoughts and this morning I needed to hear them.
My Father, I am amazed that Your thoughts are about Your people. You long to hear each of us call you, "my Father." We praise You for being the One who longs for a special relationship with each one of us. Thank You for sending Jesus so that we could be called Your children.
1 John 3:1-3 - "Look at how great a love the Father has given us, that we should be called God's children. And we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it didn't know Him. 2 Dear friends, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself just as He is pure.
